This is a cool shot - the blue in the background seems so sterile (hence the hospital) - also glad to hear he's better.
In response to your comment "How do I learn these photography rules" Mainly from taking classes and reading and talking to other photographers. My Dad (who is also on aminus3) has also taught me some tricks as he has been shooting for over 40 years. We need to start posting some articles on stuff like this for the am3 community.

I like this photo, and I wouldn't have guessed initially that it was taken in a hospital. The blue looks as though it could be a tropical sea/sky background. I love the "hidden detail" of his lips at the top right.
